Hello, we are the Krahn Family
Having a family pet is something that adds dynamics to each member of the family. It is like adding colour to a once black and white photograph. Our children love interacting with our dogs and it brings a smile to our faces as we watch them grow. Hearing our daughters rendition of our bernedoodles names as she learns to talk and is excited to see them every morning is sweet to our souls.
As a parent it is important to us that we found a breed that is good with children, easy going temperament, and a bit of a comic.
We found these qualities in the bernedoodle breed and not desiring a gentle giant of a dog, we found the mini/medium size to be just the fit. We also wanted something that wasn’t filling our home and vacuum with pet hair. The hypoallergenic coat of the bernedoodle fit the bill in that area as well. They still shed a little as any doodle would, but that is to be expected when one owns a pet.
Kevin enjoys the stocky build of our male Macho and appreciates having another boy in family especially before the arrival of our son. lol.
I (Julia) fell in love with the bernedoodle breed years ago. I grew up on Aspen Ridge Ranch BC and my family raised doodles aswell. I have years of experience in raising and breeding family pets. I’m thankful for the experience I gained and am happy to answer your questions; whether that be on puppy training, breeding, grooming, or finding the right dog for you.
Macho loves to play fetch, roll in the grass or snow and LOVES attention! The girls love to pet him or as they call it “soft” him and he loves it too. Even though he is getting almost seven he is still a puppy at heart and loves toys. If the girls don’t watch out he will try to add one their stuffies or their balls to his collection. 🙂 He loves everyone and really knows no stranger but he will bark to let us know if someone comes to our home.
Mocha is a bit more reserved, she wants to learn who you are before becoming fast friends. She loves the girls but is most content when she can be near me. She would spend her day in my lap if she could but as a busy mom that’s something I can’t share with her.
We love our family; each other, our children, dogs, and the smiles we see on each. We wish to share our blessings with you so if you are looking for a bernedoodle to add to your family you’ve come to the right place.
About the Bernedoodle Breed
Characteristics
The Bernedoodle is a cross between the Bernese Mountain Dog and the Poodle. The hybrid cross between these two well known breeds produces an amazing family dog with a moderate activity level. The Bernedoodle is endowed with gorgeous looks and a wonderful carefree temperament!
They bestow a remarkable attachment to family with a special affection for children; are good with other pets and confident in new situations if well socialized and consistently trained at an early age.
This breed’s adorable personality is loyal, smart and sensitive with a touch of comic! A Bernedoodle wants to become your very best friend with a desire to please and to stand by your side.
Coat
The Bernedoodle coat is a combination of the thick Berner coat and the hypo-allergenic Poodle coat resulting in a lower shedding, typically allergy friendly, coat ranging from wavy to curly. “More curls – less shedding” is a rule of thumb which can be applied.
Regular brushing will keep your Bernedoodle matt free and a visit to the groomer will be necessary approximately three to four times a year.
Note that hypo-allergenic means that a breed sheds less….. not shedless
Size
We raise Bernedoodles in the medium/moyen or mini size
Perfect for those people who are so in love with any size of dog!
Medium/moyen size shoulder height is 19″ to 23″ and weight will range from 45 to 75 pounds.
Mini size shoulder height is 18″ to 20″ and weight will range from 30 to 50 pounds.
Colour
Our Bernedoodle puppies will be uniquely marked with splashes of white and combinations of merle, bi-colour, or beautiful tri-colour.
